Obituary of Donald M Hess

Donald M. Hess, 83, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on December 13, 2018 at Hackettstown Medical Center, Hackettstown, NJ

Donald was born on August 17, 1935 in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late Edward and Ruth Hess.

Donald graduated from Washington High School Class of 1953. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married the love of his life Jeanette Gordon in 1965. Donald was employed at Ingersoll Rand as a supply clerk for 42 years prior to his retirement in 1996. He served his community and is a life member of the Hackettstown Rescue Squad. He also was a member of the Mountain Lake Fire Dept. for 23 years. He was a member of Warren County Rod and Gun Club, a member of the Tin Can Sailors. Donald belonged to the American Legion Post 131 in Belvidere and a member of the Hackettstown Legion. He also was a member of the VFW in Belvidere, NJ. Donald enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid bowler. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his loving son, Brian Hess and his wife Gail. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his devoted wife Jeanette who passed in 2007. 2 sons, Donald Jr who passed in 1973 and Christopher Paul who passed in 1986.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 4-6 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald's name to Mountain Lake Fire Co, 99 Tamarack Rd, Belvidere, NJ 07823 or the Hackettstown First Aid and Rescue, 124 Maple Ave., Hackettstown, NJ 07840
