Obituary of Ernest Joseph Easty Jr.

Ernest Joseph Easty Jr., 92, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on October 5, 2019 in his sleep.

Ernest was born on August 20, 1927 in Newark, NJ to the late Ernest Sr. and Mary (nee Sullivan) Easty.

Ernest was a graduate of Wharton High School in 1945.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He married the love of his life Eileen (nee Moore) Easty in 1968.  Ernest resided in Hackettstown for 49 years.  He was self employed and owned and operated Ernie’s TV repair shop until his retirement in 1999.  He was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hackettstown.  Ernest was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus in South Orange.  He enjoyed music, loved repairing devices, and tinkering with radios.  He will be sadly missed.

Ernest is survived by his loving son; Ernest “Joe” Easty III and his caring sister; Zita McGuire  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his devoted wife Eileen who passed in 2006 and his sister Mary Lowe in 2002.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him deeply.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday October 10, 2019 from 5-8 PM at the Maguire- Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October 11, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Inurnment will immediately follow the Mass at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Oxford, NJ

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernest’s name to the Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation., 350 Sparta Ave, B-2, Sparta, NJ 07871 or the Hackettstown First Aid and Rescue 123 Maple Ave, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
