Obituary of Joan Ann Tibak

Joan Ann Tibak, 81, of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born on July 12, 1939 in Keasbey, NJ to the late Andrew and Mary Payti. Joan retired in 2005 but continued to work as a substitute in the Great Meadows and Hackettstown school cafeterias. She married the love of her life, Jack Tibak, in 1960 and celebrated 33 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1993. She was a parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Great Meadows. Joan enjoyed the beach (especially the Jersey Shore) along with baking, traveling and gardening. She also enjoyed occasional trips to the local casinos. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and going to family gatherings. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving children: Eric Tibak and his wife, Kate; Jill Russo and her husband, Joe; and Mark Tibak and his wife, Susan; her cherished grandchildren: Jacklyn, Amber, Joey, Taylor, Jake, Jenna, Emily, Paige, Keirstin, Alexa and Madison; a brother, Andrew Payti, and his partner, Conrad Schmitt; a sister-in-law, Mary Griggs, and her husband, Jerry; and her devoted companion, Nick Kowalick. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Trout. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 9-10:30 AM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at the Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 360 US Route 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. Burial will follow the Mass at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows.
